Chapel Choir

Robinson College has had a resident choir since the completion of the Chapel in 1981. It is run by the Organ Scholars Simon Williams and Dominic O’Connor-Robinson, under the direction of Rev’d Dr Maggi Dawn and Dr Jeremy Thurlow.
The choir provides music for two services a week, which take place in the beautiful college chapel with its magnificent stained-glass windows and marvellous Frobenius organ. These consist of a Sunday Evening Worship, in which we sing two anthems and several hymns, and Choral Evensong on a Tuesday, where we sing responses, a psalm, a setting of the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis and an anthem. We perform the works of a great range of composers, from Byrd and Gibbons to Leighton, Rutter and Chilcott. On occasion, we sing music written specifically for us by members of the college. Do have a look at the Calendar Page for a greater idea of the variety of music which is a regular part of our repertoire.

Outside of the everyday program of services, the choir also performs in various concerts and joint events throughout the year, in and around Cambridge and the country, and on the annual tour. The choir is a friendly, committed and close-knit group of people, who enjoy singing beautiful music and socialising together on a regular basis. This website was set up to provide up-to-date information about the exploits of the choir for members, those interested in being members, and those simply interested.
